Atom Popper - Striper Swiper
"Pop, Pop, Pop - C'mon Strike" is the tune to play with the Atom Striper Swiper. To make these popper type plugs "pop," point the rod at the plug with the tip just a little higher than the butt. Lift the rod tip about six inches - with a snap.

A simple, but highly effective lure for all game fish that live and feed in deep, fast-moving water. This bait can be cast, jigged, or trolled. These silver colored lead lures are available with white, blue, or green prism tape and red prism "bug eyes." Designed with a stainless steel thru-wire and have a tough epoxy coating. A long time standard of surf fishermen, the Cotton Cordell Pencil Popper is designed to deliver super long casts. The tail section has an added weight that forces the lure to sit tail down, creating a bobbing target. The Cotton Cordell will call up fish in almost any condition.

The Gibbs Darter Lure is powerful saltwater plug that is well-suited for rocky shorelines and any rips, inlets, or heavy currents. The Gibbs Wooden Darter attracts stripers by imitating many types of baitfish that may be wounded or struggling against strong currents. The 3-ounce darter is Gibbs' first wired-through wooden darter; its 6-inch length and large profile attracts large, hungry fish; and the Gibbs Darter casts long and true in strong breezes and holds its own in the strongest riptides and surf.
Saltwater darters get the best results when cast in the current and given a quick pop to get them started, followed by a slow steady retrieve while working the plug from side-to-side to the surface. The darters can be either be reeled across the current, or allowed to wiggle on a tight line as the current sweeps them. A moderate jerk and pause will often get the stripers to attack.

More commonly referred to as the "Bottle Plug," this is our "Derby Special" due to the "derby" winners it has been credited with. No metal lip allows this plug to really reach the "off beach" rips.
Casting Swimmer Tips
William "Doc" Muller best described the correct technique when he coined the phrase "stay in contact with the plug." Pay close attention to what's happening out there and keep the plug working by maintaining tight lines and a steady retriever as the current ebbs and flows. This means you speed up retrieve on wave fronts and slow down on the backside.
The Gibbs Canal Special Pencil Popper is a larger version of the Gibbs pencil popper. This canal fishing lure is similar to the original lure, but it has a flat area shaved out of the belly. This modification allows this heavier plug to perform well in heavy currents (like the Cape Cod Canal) and other well-known current flows along the East Coast.
The Gibbs Canal Special Pencil Popper is made using stainless steel thru wire construction, top quality terminal tackle, and Mustad treble hooks. Many fishermen claim the Gibbs Canal Special lure is better than the standard Pencil Popper, especially in places along outflows, jetties, and in the stones where big fish can be found.

Gibbs Needlefish Lures are very effective up-and-down the Coast. The desired action is one of no action but the waters current. A slow, steady retriever at or just below the surface will produce a symmetrical V-wake that will obtain the desired result.
Strikes are much less dramatic than on other lures, so pay attention and concentrate on the plug at all times. Step up the tempo considerably when Bluefish are the target.

The Gibbs Pencil Popper sports a sleek, tapered design with a slightly weighted tail to help increase casting distance in heavy winds.
